In a move that mixes generosity with a firm ultimatum, Washington has committed $2 billion to support UN emergency relief efforts. However, this contribution was accompanied by a stark warning for the international body: it must "adapt or die."
A Major Pledge Amid Broader Funding Cuts
The funding announcement came amid substantial cuts in US funding for global aid. Additional reductions are also anticipated from other key donors including the UK and Germany.
