Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were hurt while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced interruptions to water supplies, as stated by city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was killed in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has intensified assaults on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and implementing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen missiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from municipal representatives.

Local officials said the metropolitan region endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The assaults succeed nights of aerial attacks in the territory, parts of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

Authorities told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were preparing for more assaults.
